I must get my hands on these books this summer

5f295-toptentuesdayTop Ten Tuesday is a weekly blogging meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. You can find out more about it here. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books on Your TBR list this summer.

I don’t know why, but for whatever reason I tend to read ten times more books in summer than I do in winter. You would think it would be the opposite, but I’m not all that fond of being hot, so I tend to lounge around and read books instead of doing what all the other “cool” teenagers do in the summer. Shopping, maybe. I really have no idea.

A1bCf-Xhe4LReady Player One by Ernest Cline

This is a book my dad keeps telling me I need to read, and it sounds super amazingly interesting, so I’ve placed a hold on it at the library and it’s supposed to come in any day now.

Scarlett Undercover by Jennifer Latham

I still really need to read this. Scarlett sounds kind of like a girl version of Encyclopedia Brown. Also, it’s mystery, and since there’s so few mysteries in YA I have to read it sooner or later.

Magonia by Maria Dahvana Headly

This book sounds cool and also romance-y. but I’m hoping it’s not an in-your-face type of romance. I’m hoping it leans more toward the fantasy element.

The Cage by Megan Shepherd

This sounds…well, kind of horrifying, really. But subtly horrifying. Or something. I don’t know. I just want to read it, is all I’m saying.

Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld

Once I heard this was alternating chapters between and eighteen-year-old writer’s POV and her novel, I had to read it. Plus, she wrote the novel during NaNoWriMo, which is awesomely epic. Or epically awesome, one of those two.

Taken by Erin Bowman

“Aine,” you ask, “Will you ever get tired of dystopians?” The answer is I WILL NOT. And this one sounds cooler than most, so I shall read it eagerly. Unless it stinks.

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell

No, I still haven’t read it. Yes, I need to.

The Murder Complex by Lindsay Cummings

I don’t actually know much about this other than the title’s awesome. But I still want to read it.

Wasteland by Susan Kim

I’m curious as to what a world run by teenagers is like, ’cause in The 100, it didn’t work so well. Plus, look at the cover. Look at it.

Doll Bones by Holly Black

Yes, it’s MG, but it’s about a haunted doll. And it’s by Holly Black, so why wouldn’t I want to read it?

And…that’s my list. I’ll be going back to bed now.

Happy Tuesday,

      1. I’m pretty much doing the same thing, aha! I have so many half finished books, it’s horrible.

  1. So. much. AWESOME. I really want to read Doll Bones because, obviously, HOLLY BLACK. She is my hero. (Okay, I have like 2 billion authorly heroes, but no regrets.) I’m going to read her faerie series soon!! OH. I loved E&P although not as much as everyone else, weirdly enough. And I couldn’t stand Taken. >_< But i really want to hear someone else's view on it! Because that author seems to be quite famous and doing well, so whyyyy did I have troubles with her book? Maybe my brain is just the weird one. xD I want to read Afterworlds and Scarlet Undercover sooo bad!!

    1. I didn’t like Tithe as much as I liked her other books, unfortunately. And it seems like those tend to be the favorites, so…I dunno. I’ve heard mixed reviews on Taken, both good and bad, so…we’ll see.
