Top Ten New Releases I Wanted To Get But Didn’t

I am once again linking up with The Broke and The Bookish for Top Ten Tuesday. This week’s theme is Top Ten 2015 Releases I Meant To Get To But Didn’t. There are various reasons why I don’t get new releases when they come out: lack of funds, the library/bookstore doesn’t have them, or I found out about them so early that I forgot I wanted to get them.

Basically, that’s my way of saving that most of the books I buy aren’t new releases even if I fully intended to get them.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J. K. Rowling, Illustrated by Jim Kay

This book is really gorgeous. I have spent many a bookstore visit flipping through the pages and salivating over the pictures, but a distinct lack of an extra $40 lying around right before Christmas prevented me from getting it.

The Iron Warrior by Julie Kagawa

There’s a somewhat stupid reason for not wanting to read this DESPITE the fact that I waited so long after The Iron Traitor and its brutal cliffhanger. This is the final book in The Iron Fey series. And then it will be over. FOREVER. And so with somewhat flawed logic I have put off reading it because, then, in my mind, the series is still going on. BUT THIS WAS THE FIRST YA SERIES I EVER READ. I’m attached to this series forever.

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

I actually have a good reason for not reading this despite really, really wanting too. I want to finish the Grisha Trilogy first.

Untamed by A. G. Howard

I, uh…//whispers actually forgot this was coming out. Which is horrible-awful, because I love this series with all my heart and to forget this was coming out…

Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan

I’ve been meaning to buy this for a while. The problem is is that I never go into the middle grade section of the bookstore anymore unless I’m looking for a present for one of my younger cousins. I get caught up in the lovely, pretty book in the YA section, and then completely forget I was going to go look at this one until I’m halfway home. At this rate, the hold I placed on it at the library will get in before I buy it. And I’m 437th in line of 100 copies.

The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly by Stephanie Oakes

This book sounds fascinating. And terrifying. And, naturally, every time I walk into the bookstore or library to get it…they don’t have it.

Silver in the Blood by Jessica Day George

Oh my gosh, this book sounds so fantastic.

Vengeance Road by Erin Bowman

This book does use the old girl-pretends-to-be-boy trope (honestly, it’s not that easy), but it’s a western, and there aren’t many of those in YA, and it sounds super interesting and I’ve been meaning to read it for a while.

Legacy of Kings by Eleanor Herman

I had a chance to get a copy of this book for two dollars. And because I’m an idiot, I got a copy of The Scorpion Rules instead. But this book is a mix of epic fantasy AND historical fiction and so I should read it as soon as possible.

The Girl at Midnight by Melissa Gray

I actually don’t know a ton about this book, but I do know that it has a gorgeous cover and it has bird-people, so I’m sold.
