I actually don’t have a lot to say today.

FANTASTIC BOOKISH FACT NUMBER ONE

I TOTALLY JUDGE BOOKS BY THEIR COVERS

ADMIT IT. You do, too. You’ll be a hundred times more likely to pick up a book with a pretty cover than one with an ugly cover. People who say otherwise are liars and not to be trusted.

I FINALLY, FINALLY GOT A NEW BOOKSHELF

And I’m totally in love with it. I actually have space, now! And it’s way prettier than my older one and I want to show it off, so expect a bookshelf tour coming your way soon.

FANTASTIC BOOKISH FACT NUMBER THREE

I’M A MANGLER OF CHARACTER NAMES

I’ll often add an extra letter that isn’t even in the name for no reason at all. Like Chaol, from Throne of Glass? For the longest time I pronounced it “Choo-A-all”, even though there’s no extra O. And it wasn’t until I saw Sarah J. Maas in a video pronouncing it “Kay-all” that I managed to switch it in my mind. And Sean Kendrick, from The Scorpio Races? I know his name is pronounced “Shawn”, but I’ll keep right on pronouncing it “Seen”, anyway.

I LIKE BIG BOOKS AND I CANNOT LIE

I know a lot of people kind of shy away from the giant 800+ page beasts that are out there, but I kind of like longer books. There’s more book to enjoy.

IF I DON’T HAVE SOMEONE WITH ME WHEN I GO INTO A BOOKSTORE I’LL BUY THE ENTIRE YA SECTION

But someone watching you as you gather up a stack of $100 dollars in books is slightly uncomfortable.

I DIDN’T START READING YA UNTIL I WAS FIFTEEN

This was mostly because for a long time (until I started book blogging, really), I refused to read anything but the authors I knew and loved. This worked out fine when I was still reading the book series like Junie B. Jones and Magic Tree House, where the authors can pump out several new books a year, but as I started reading more complicated stuff it got a little harder. I eventually changed by ways.

FANTASTIC BOOKISH FACT NUMBER SEVEN

I’VE ACTUALLY NEVER DRESSED UP AS A CHARACTER FROM A BOOK FOR HALLOWEEN BEFORE

I know, it’s crazy, especially since everyone under the age of eighteen has dressed up as Harry or Hermione for Halloween at least once, but I still haven’t, and that’s utterly shocking to me.

I AM planning on going as Celaena Sardothien from the Assassin’s Blade cover, though. Mostly because I think her cloak is super cool and also because my friend bet me that no one would no who I was. I WILL FIND ANOTHER FAN ON HALLOWEEN.

THE LIBRARIANS AT MY LOCAL LIBRARY KNOW ME

I have become known among them for being the girl who has 20 books on hold come in at a time. They don’t actually know my name, but they know who I am.

I WISH I COULD TAKE AWESOME PICTURES OF BOOKSTORES

Buuuuuut it makes me anxious to do so. Like, if the bookstore was completely empty, sure, but if there’s even one other person it makes me super uncomfortable because I don’t want to be seen as “that person” who takes photos of everything I see. Of course, I know this is stupid, but I can’t help it.

I WILL SOMETIMES FORGET TO EAT IF I’M READING A REALLY GOOD BOOK

I will be reading, and then I’ll surface because I’ll either finish the book or someone called for me and realize that hey, it’s four o’clock and I still haven’t eaten lunch.
